Here is a glimpse of the landmark ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Francis Apartments. Owned by Steeple Square, these wonderful apartments, located at 1501 Jackson Street, were renovated and are managed by Gronen Properties. Opening Doors graduates will occupy 8 of the 12 apartments through our third doorway of support – Permanent Supportive Housing. Photos #1-19 courtesy of Ellen Dettmer of Life Through a Polaroid.
Santa made a special trip down from the North Pole and invited his pal The Grinch and “Max” to the delight of the children at Maria House and Teresa Shelter. All of the ladies each received bath & beauty gifts. Many thanks to Bruce Parks, Toys For Tots, Sisters of Charity and our generous community for helping Santa with donated toys and gifts items. A special thanks to Mike & Julie Kinsella and Trish McDonald for your time and talents!
Affectionately known as AOG, this is the largest fundraiser of the year for Opening Doors. All proceeds support the homeless women and children that are learning self-sufficiency skills at Maria House and Teresa Shelter. This year’s event netted a record breaking $130,000! Many thanks to our chairs Erin Sieverding, sponsors, guests, auction item donors, and our wonderful volunteers for making this event a success again this year. A special thanks to Bobbi Earles – Emcee and Jeff Vaassen – Auctioneer. We are so proud of our amazing speaker Laura who spoke about how her experience at Opening Doors empowered their lives.
